Sandy On Earth - Chapter Three Of course, I was only visible to him in my preferred form. There was no telling how people would react at the sight of a jackal-headed monster on human feet. If you've paid any attention to Egyptology, I was a pretty good imitation of Anubis, the God of Judgement (so-called). Here's one thing I give to humans -- their imagination.

"Well?" I grinned at him, displaying my full set of canines (no rotting breath, however). "Are you up for the visit, or would you rather go home to mummy?"

He gaped at me without so much as a stammer.

"Uh. Hello. I may be immortal, but I'm not going to spend it on you, you know. Make up your mind quick will you?"

Uh oh. Time to get lost. I was in no mood to talk to him, okay. I mean, I've had enough of human males coming up to me and asking for my number, or a date, or whatever things human males do, but I was the Devil, for God's sake. You don't expect me to entertain such idiocies, even on holiday. Besides, I just got a call from Ross, and there's a whole crowd of newly dead waiting for me to deal with. Apparently they all appeared at the same time due to some terrorist attack again.

"Hey!"

I whipped around. "Now boy, why don't you just go on home?"

"You mean Hell?"

I'll admit, I lost my bearings on that one.
